The AURANGABAD INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL (AIFF) is organized by the Yashwantrao Chavan Pratishthan, Mumbai’s Aurangabad Regional Centre. Pratishthan’s Aurangabad Centre is dedicatedly working in social, cultural, literary & educational fields in Marathwada region. Centre is organising the AIFF since 2014.

1 – Aim of the Festival

The AIFF will present the best selection of contemporary Indian and international fiction-feature films as well as the significant films in history of Indian and world cinema. The aim of organising this festival is to present the films of great merit from India and abroad to the audiences of city of Aurangabad, and to create an awareness and understanding of cinematic experience through film screenings and dialogue.

2 – Eligibility to participate in the Short Film Competition of 6th Aurangabad IFF

A) Aurangabad International Film Festival (AIFIF) will be held from 09/JAN/2019 to 13/JAN/2019 in the city of Aurangabad.
B) Short fiction films produced after 1st January 2018 are accepted.
C) Festival accepts Short fiction films of maximum duration of 20 minutes, including film’s opening and closing credits.
D) Either director(s) or producer(s) of the short film MUST be residents of Marathwada region in Maharashtra state. Marathwada is defined as the region comprising of 1) Aurangabad, 2) Jalna,     3) Parbhani, 4) Hingoli, 5) Beed, 6) Nanded, 7) Latur and 8) Osmanabad.
E) Films selected for this short film competition MUST be available on BluRay or Prores 444/442 mov files (Prores 444/422 MOV files with 5.1 Audio Embedded, Stereo and Mono would be automatically considered. The resolution of the MOV not less than 1920 X 1080 @ 24fps.
F) All films must be screened in their original version, with English subtitles. Remakes and dubbed language versions of a film are not eligible.
G) A jury of experts will award following prizes in this competition –
a. Best Film – Trophy, certificate plus cash prize of Rs. 25,000/- to director of the film
H) Please read the regulations properly before submitting your film in any section.

3 – Selection procedure

AIFF’s programming team, headed by the festival director, is responsible for selecting and inviting films to take part in the AIFF.

A) The entry form to submit the film is available on our website: www.aifilmfest.in.
B) The online film entry form shall be filled in with all the requisite details by applicant who is either director or producer of the film or the person authorized by producer of the film.
C) The deadline for entries as well as sending films is now extended to 15th December 2018.
D) Applicant can submit online preview link of the film in form. This online link shall have download option.
E) If applicant chooses to submit DVD / USB drive / hard-disk preview copy of the film, it must reach the festival office by the extended submission deadline i.e. 15th December 2018. Please mention submission reference number on DVD / drive / disk.

F) When sending the film entry to festival office by courier / post, the envelope / package must be marked clearly with the following:

NOT FOR COMMERCIAL USE
The courier invoice should mention NO COMMERCIAL VALUE
Please mention value for customs purpose – Rs. 50 (for Indian entries)
The cost of the courier charges for the preview material is to be borne by the applicant.
Applicant shall inform the festival office by e-mail (info@aifilmfest.in) of the title of the film, the date and means of shipment, and the AWB number.

4 – Entry Fee

Entry fee is Rs. 500/- for each entry.

Entry form submissions will only be considered complete and ready for selection process on confirmation of entry fee payment.

5 – Instructions for selected films

A) The applicant must submit detailed documentation immediately, including synopsis of the film, biography and complete filmography of the director and of the leading actors, a selection of high resolution stills from the film, the poster design in a high resolution format, a recent photograph of the director, and a full list of artistic and technical credits. This information should be sent to festival office by email to info@aifilmfest.in.
B) The applicant must submit final copy for festival screening (refer point 2-F. above) with English subtitles in festival office by 15th December 2018.
C) Films selected for Aurangabad IFF cannot be withdrawn from the Festival programme after its announcement.
D) The official Festival logo laurel must be included in all promotional and publicity material of the film and displayed prominently. The Festival provides suitable logos.

6 – Festival programme

A) The festival programme of the films selected is at the discretion of the festival director and his programming team. Their decision on festival programme is irrevocable.
B) Films will be screened in any digital format agreed upon by the festival programming team and the producer / applicant of the film.

7 – Film screening material and selection screeners

A) The screening material provided to the Festival of films in its final selection will remain with festival organisers in their archives / video library. Festival organisers will screen any of these short films in their future programmes they deem fit. These screenings will be non-commercial and academic in nature.
B) The applicant / producer agrees to make available replacement of screening material DCP / hard disk / tape immediately, if it has difficulty in playing / screening.
C) The DVD screeners sent for selection will only be returned to the applicant / producer upon precise request made within 1 month of completion of festival. The applicant / producer will bear the expenses of return of these DVD.
D) Festival organisers may keep a copy of DVD screeners received for selection before returning it back to applicant / producer. Festival organisers will screen any of these short films in their future programmes they deem fit. These screenings will be non-commercial and academic in nature.

8 – Events

Besides the film screenings under various competitive and non-competitive section, the festival also organizes many other activities during the course of the festival. These academic and informative events are designed in view of aim of the festival to create aesthetic and creative awareness among festival attendees towards cinema. These activities include –

b) Master Class
c) Open Forum
d) Exhibition
e) Festival Bulletin
f) Lifetime Achievement Award

9 – Obligations of applicants / producers of the films

a) Participation in Short Film Competition implies adherence to the regulations as here set out.
b) It is the responsibility of producers / applicants to ensure that they are legitimately entitled to enter the film in Festival.
c) For the films selected, the official festival logo MUST be included in all promotional and publicity material of the film in a prominent place. Requests for suitable festival logo can be sent by email to info@aifilmfest.in.
d) The applicant, producer(s) and director(s) of the short films agree and acknowledge while submitting his / her / their short film(s) in this Short Film Competition section that, festival organisers may screen any of the short films received and / or selected for 6th Aurangabad IFF in their future programmes they deem fit. These screenings will be non-commercial and academic in nature.
e) The festival director has the right to settle all cases unforeseen in these regulations of participation, as well as to permit exceptions from the regulations in special, well-founded cases.

10 – Obligations of the Festival

a) If there is any damage to or loss of the screening material of the film sent for screening in the festival, the festival is responsible only for the cost involved in restoration or repair of the damaged hard disk / tape / USB / or making a new hard disk / tape / USB of damaged portion of the film according to the current laboratory rates for ordering a standard screening copy.
b) Responsibility of festival for damage to or loss of a hard disk / tape / USB is applicable ONLY while it is in Festival’s custody.
Any claims for damage or loss of print, lodged by the lender of the copy must be communicated to the Festival at the very latest, within one month of return of the print to the lender.

The festival director reserves the right to settle all cases not covered by the guidelines and to grant exceptions in special cases.
